What is Minimal Tears?
It's an art project by Maya Bouldry-Morrison (Octo Octa) where every piece of audio from it is free. The songs are free, the sample packs are free, and the stems are free. This is all original recorded material that I created in my studio at home.

There is no copyright on this audio. Every part of it can be taken, used, edited, released, etc all without credit!

This project idea came about for a few reasons. The first is that I have a meditation practice of turning on my equipment in my studio and playing for hours without recording anything. This is an important exercise I like to do but I realized that maybe I could explore other ideas if I recorded the material. Secondly, I wanted to change my production method for these songs; to be trackier, quicker, and looser when creating songs. I've been able to move through writer's block in the past by just making and finishing work. Lastly I wanted to offer more free music resources because I believe it's good to share knowledge and work.

So It's All Free?
Yes! You can use anything for anything with no strings attached! I made all of this to share :)

The downloads are in three parts to make it less of a burden depending on what you wanted to download.

All the audio is lossless WAVs at 16bit/44.1kHz.

For some more free resources you can checkout mine and my partner's label website at https://www.t4tluvnrg.com for a free guide on putting together a home studio and a guide on DJ tips, tricks, and techniques!

Can I Just Stream The Tracks?
Yes! You can click here to go to the Archive.org page which allows streaming from it's web interface! I didn't want to upload this project to a streaming service that would serve you ads (we're served enough ads in this world). The Archive.org page also allows downloads in a bunch of different formats as well if WAVs aren't your thing :) (I see you FLAC users xoxo).

What Equipment Was Used?
99% of the recorded material is from hardware and then multitracked and edited in Ableton Live (with additional knob-twiddling & keyboard-playing by Eris Drew).

The Banner Is Really Small...
Yeah I wanted an even more down-rezzed version to really keep this website in line with my coding / photoshop skills I learned at 13 years old. If you want a "higher" rez version of the banner click here (I also down-rezzed it, but it's bigger lol)
